THE COMPANY
Britopedral was founded in 1987 as a sister company of Metalúrgica António Fernandes, sharing both, until today, the same management team.
As Metalurgica’s main business was the supply of heavy machinery for quarries, its founder-partner, António Fernandes, had a dream of also exploring this business.
The dream came true in the late 80’s, when he found the ideal place to explore, in Santa Eulália, Negrais, inviting his son-in-law, Pedro Velho, to take care of the company’s management.
Since then, Britopedral has become one of the main suppliers of stone in Lisbon district, having participated in the construction of such emblematic works as the CCB, the Sintra tram line, the Ericeira motorway and the expressway of Mafra and Malveira, CREL and CRIL, among others. The business reached its peak with EXPO98.
In the years of the crisis, which forced a halt to construction and a slowdown of public works in the country, Britopedral resisted, having reinvented itself through the rehabilitation of the quarry, with a landfill prepared for the reception of land and rubble and certified by the Portuguese government office for Energy and Geology.
For the future, Britopedral intends to continue providing a service of excellence in the two branches of activity (extraction and dump), and is currently prepared to respond to any type of request.
